Yes the "P" was made in other years(I think all years) It stands for the type of stock handle bars on the bike. P = pull back and F = drag style bars. Though I havwn't seen many of the drag bar type Savages (Hell, I dont think I have ever seen one).But I guess they are out there somewhere. BE SAFE!!!!!!
